The process has begun to create an International Himalayan School in the outskirts of Siliguri, India.
To start the project off on site a boundary wall will be erected allowing us to protect the land but more importantly allowing us to engage with the local area and ensuring sustainable practices from the outset.
Architecture & Developpement (A&D) will lead a workshop training local people how to build a gabion wall which the wall will be constructed with. This gabion technique has been developed to utilise local resources and to be a good building technique for earthquake prone areas.
During the construction of the boundary wall a design team led by Arch’i platform and consisting of A&D, Enlightened Vision Association (EVA) and other groups and individuals will design a sustainable school for the location.
